In what year did you start teaching at TDCH? 2021.
In what town or city did you grow up in? London, Ontario.
Where in the world would you most want to re-visit and why? I would like to travel through Western Europe again. I did this with three friends after graduating from high school and before I knew anything about art. As I began to study art history later on, I found I was perpetually learning about things I had seen but didn't really know what I had been looking at at the time.
What do you like to do in your spare time? Art making, reading, hanging out with my wife and two kids.
What is something people might not know about you? I once rode a donkey through the Himalayan Mountains in India.
What piece of advice do you have for high school students? Art isn't a bird course. I thought it was when I was in high school and so, even though I liked the visual arts, I avoided taking it. I didn't discover how valuable visual art is to society and to the heart of God until I was in university. Art is an important part of our world and the study of art can and will open many doors.
Favourite or meaningful Bible passage? Hebrews 13:5,6 "Don’t be obsessed with money but live content with what you have, for you always have God’s presence. For hasn’t he promised you, 'I will never leave you, never! And I will not loosen my grip on your life!' So we can say with great confidence: 'I know the Lord is for me and I will never be afraid of what people may do to me!'”
