International Block is one of the most exciting learning opportunities TDChristian has to offer! Every year, a class of Grade 11 and 12 students, along with teacher Ms. Rachael Weening and chaperones, visit a developing country for eight weeks to do service work there. In 2007 and 2008 students traveled to Belize.
In 2009 students traveled to a jungle clinic in northern Honduras. Students worked in agriculture, construction, education, and medicine, and worked on learning to speak and understand Spanish.
In 2010, students travelled to and work in the Dominican Republic. There they worked in schools, a rehab clinic, an orphanage and at a village on the outskirts of the city dump. The students returned to the Dominican Republic in 2011.
The International Block program embodies the school's mission "to educate teens for service" in their communities and around their world. In addition to participating in a life-changing experience, students earn 3 or 4 high school credits.
